How is student growth measured?

At Primer, we believe learning is about growth over time, not just performance on a single test. That's why we use a variety of tools to understand how students are progressing and where they may need additional support.

Throughout the school year, educators monitor student learning through classroom observations, daily assignments, projects, discussions, and other examples of student work. These everyday interactions provide valuable insight into how students are developing their knowledge and skills.

In addition, students take the NWEA Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®) assessment three times each year. MAP assessments provide nationally normed data that helps educators and families better understand each student's academic growth in reading and math.

MAP results help us:

• Measure academic growth over time
• Understand each student's current performance in reading and math
• Identify areas of strength
• Recognize opportunities for additional support or challenge

Assessment results are never viewed in isolation. Educators consider MAP data alongside classroom performance and their own observations to build a complete picture of each student's progress. This information helps guide instruction and ensures students continue receiving the support and challenge they need as they learn.
