How do students progress?

At Primer, students move forward by demonstrating mastery, not simply because it's time to begin the next lesson or unit. This approach helps students build a strong academic foundation while continuing to grow at a pace that reflects their learning.

When students show they understand a concept, they're ready to take on new challenges. If they need additional time or support, educators provide targeted instruction and practice before introducing more advanced material. The goal is to help every student develop lasting understanding and confidence in what they are learning.

Because students develop skills at different rates, it's common for them to be at different points across subjects. For example, a student may be ready for more advanced math while continuing to strengthen reading skills. Educators use ongoing observations, classroom work, and assessments to understand each student's progress and adjust instruction throughout the year.
