Our courses

Primer’s math course is based on the new revolutionary curriculum, Eureka Math², which is designed to support kids in fostering deep conceptual mathematical understanding. It is led by Sydney Diana, who has 7 years of experience teaching in New York City.

Primer’s science course is based off of Amplify, which engages kids to think like real scientists through fascinating phenomena and hands-on investigations. It is led by Myra McCormick, who has worked for 20 years as a teacher and school leader in Boston, New York, and Seattle.

English language arts

Primer’s english language arts course is based on the science of reading and uses world-class literature to ensure all students foster a love for reading.* It is led by Jasmin Song, an award-winning lead teacher and literacy specialist in New York City.

* We are also offering a reading course for 3rd to 5th graders who need additional support with word recognition and phonics, led by Brittney Jeffries. For more information, email [email protected]

How it works

Each of our virtual courses are designed to help students develop a love of learning through an engaging, standards-aligned course. Students meet with their class virtually twice a week and pace themselves through engaging tasks in between.

A day in the life

Students meet virtually with their classmates and teacher twice per week. These class meetings are supplemented with aligned and rigorous self-paced tasks students can do on their own schedule, flexible teacher office hours, small group sessions, and an online space where they can connect with their classmates and receive support between sessions.

All class meeting times and office hours are scheduled between 9 am and 3 pm Eastern Time.

Time commitment

Each class requires a 4-5 hour time commitment each week for 16 weeks. Classes meet virtually twice per week for one hour. Assigned work is estimated to take between 2-3 hours per week. There will also be optional additional time for small groups or office hours.

Class sizes

Students meet virtually with a small cohort of no more than 15 students and their teacher.

Primer’s carefully vetted, standards-based curriculum ensures students build competitive transcripts so that our graduates will be admitted by top-tier high schools and universities.

Class placement

We virtually administer an assessment prior to classes starting to determine each child’s ideal class placement.

Parent communication

Parents will receive a transcript, demonstrating their kid’s progress, as well as regular progress updates from your child’s teacher.

What is the cost?

Tuition for an individual class is $50/mo, or $200 per semester.

Tuition for full enrollment (all 3 classes - Math, Science, ELA) is $150/mo, or $600 per semester.

Since each class has 32 live sessions, this breaks down to a little over $6 per class!

We’re really excited to enroll siblings, homeschool pods, and support other schools with live education. If you fall into one of these categories, please reach out for additional pricing adjustments!

Most importantly, one of our goals is for finances to never be a reason that any child doesn’t have access to Primer, so we have scholarship options available. Please reach out.
